Drinking
Join us in the bar and sample one of our fine cask conditioned ales; perhaps the appropriately named Royal Oak, one of our other resident real ales or even our monthly guest ale, all from local brewers. If tradition is what you are after, then you must try our scrumpy cider. There is also a comprehensive wine list available.

Good Beer Guide 2012
We are proud to say that the Royal Oak Inn has been chosen to be included in the Good Beer Guide 2012. This marks us out as one of the finest outlets for cask beer, chosen by local CAMRA members.
From the cellar
We are renowned for the well-kept quality of our real ales which are always from the West Country. We always have four on offer from:
Cask Ale: Always available are Dartmoor IPA (Inmates Pale Ale) 4% and Jail Ale 4.8% from Dartmoor Brewery, based in nearby Princetown. The Royal Oak is keeping it local. Its official, we are the number one customer for Dartmoor Brewery. We sold over 29,000 pints of Dartmoor Ale in 2010. That means on average we put on a new keg of Devon’s finest ale every day, now you don’t get much fresher than that!
Plus regular
Guest Ales
Currently on is Bays Topsail 4.0% abv. from the Bays Brewery at Paignton in Devon. Launched in June 2010, Topsail is a well balanced beer, deep amber in colour with a subtle sweetness throughout.
Still on is Winter Ruby Ale 4.4%
abv. from the Sharp’s Brewery at
Rock in Cornwall.
A full, rich and nutty beer with a crisp, dry finish. Brewed using slow roasted locally sourced chestnuts, it combines satisfaction and refreshment to make the perfect winter drink. Winter Ruby Ale is deep red in colour with a dense creamy head and showcases sweet and nutty roasted flavours from the chestnuts.
The ‘Seasonals’ range is inspired by the brewery's quest for sustainability, local sourcing and quality ingredients in everything it produces and each beer is lovingly created to utilise the best of nature’s bounty from each season.
Sharp’s is lucky to have the very best help from the ‘Green Team’ at Cornwall’s Eden Project who have helped source some very special ingredients to go into the brews.
Cider
We
also have now in stock Sandford Orchards Devon Red Cider.
This very popular local cider. Bags of fruit and a
truly satisfying cider bite delivered in a genuinely quaffable and light
balanced cider. The draught version of the Devon Red will be available soon
at the Royal Oak Inn. Come and try a decent pint of Devon draught Cider!
Keg Beer: Guinness, Ansell's Mild 3.2%
Lager: Carlsberg extra cold 3.8%, San Miguel 4.8%
Cider: Westons Traditional Scrumpy 6%, Westons Old Rosie Scrumpy 7.3%, Thatchers Gold 4.8%, Ashridge Cider from Totnes and Countryman Cider from Milton Abbot.

Proud of British Beer
Proud of British Beer is a short film produced by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA). It features brewers, both large and small, hop and barley growers, maltsters and industry suppliers. Our concerns are that the continued above inflation increases in beer duty are destroying this indigenous British industry. Pubs, which are an integral part of the fabric of British society are also being forced to close at the rate of 29 per week. This cannot be allowed to continue.
