Dining at the Royal Oak Inn

Of course you must not leave without having tried the food! Food is served seven days a week. We offer home-cooked, quality produce that is locally sourced. You certainly get a plateful for your money, but do remember to leave room for one of the tempting home-made desserts! On Sunday you can expect a traditional roast dinner – a local rib of beef (see suppliers) or loin of pork, served with homemade Yorkshire pudding and fresh seasonal vegetables.  As of February 2014 we have a new chef, a gentleman named Simon Tucker who joins us from the Elliott house hotel in Cornwall.

Local slow grown, slow matured beef and lamb...
it's the only way

Without exception, the slow growing, slow maturing approach to rearing Dartmoor’s native, grass-fed livestock gives its meat exceptional flavour and quality.

Sheep grazing on Dartmoor

With beef and lamb from Dartmoor Farmers, you can now experience for yourself these unique flavours direct from the farm gate, supplied to the Royal Oak Inn by a group of hill farmers who’s families have farmed Dartmoor for generations, right in the heart of Devon.

By doing so, you are also supporting their unique way of life, enabling them to continue working the uplands of the moor, preserving the beautiful landscapes steeped in history that so many people enjoy each year.

We encourage you to treat yourselves to a taste of Dartmoor, at The Royal Oak Inn, while supporting a unique way of life in the heart of Devon.
